3 QUESTIONS FOR: Shallu Aneja | IsolaDD

Designer's Name: Shallu Aneja

1. Where do you get your inspiration from?

I think everyday material interactions play a pivotal role as starting points for my work. The relationships that one builds with the materials that surround them on a personal level are really fascinating. These experiences that we have with the environment inspire my hands-on, construction driven process.

2. The 3 books that every designer should read.

N°1: A Dictionary of Colour Combinations by Sanzo Wada

N°2: Why Materials Matter: Responsible Design for a Better World by Seetal Solanki

N°3: Touching and Imagining: An Introduction to Tactile Art (International Library of Modern and Contemporary Art) by Jan Svankmajer

3. What are you working on right now?

Being a full-time student at Saint Martins, I have been working on my university projects that explore my Knit and Print specialisms and I play around with biomaterials, intersecting them with my traditional school practice on a personal level. My work is directed towards finding a middle ground and establishing an interdisciplinary practice for myself.
